“Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that the only thing that works 24/7 and never crashes is the billing system?”
Joining Momentum

Momentum is a no-drama, no-politics, raiding/pvp guild for casual gamers. We understand that most people are not high school or college students with no life, but are people who have families, work full time, go to school full time, enjoy sex, etc. As such, we do not require raiding in the guild, but we do require raiding for any sort of rank improvement.

There is no application, and Momentum seldomly recruits. As a means of keeping gear leaches and drama out of the guild, typically only real life friends and those on one's friends listed are given guild invites. Drama, politics, and leeches can't be completely eradicated, but this is an important step in the right direction.

General Rules
  1. Don't talk or start shit.
  2. Don't put grays or other useless trash in the guild bank.
  3. Don't act like a child, even if you are one. We understand many people let their children play WoW. WoW's content has a Teen rating, but gameplay is Unrated due to the nature of MMOs. The game isn't meant for children, but is intended for a mature audience; act accordingly.
  4. Cursing is perfectly acceptable in guild chat, so long as it isn't every other word. People who have an issue with seeing expletives, or their children seeing expletives shouldn't play WoW. It's unrated for a reason. Cursing every other word though, that's childish, see the above rule.
  5. Do not spam in any chat: guild or otherwise. It reflects poorly on you, and poorly on the guild.
  6. Don't ask for help leveling your alt, join an alt/twink guild for that.
  7. Do not ask for promotions. You'll get a promotion when we damn well see fit to do so (it's actually based on your attendance and your willingness to help others).
  8. Items in the guild bank not under the first tab cost between 50%-75% of their auction house prices, depending on supply & demand, and overall rarity.
  9. Signing up for a raid and not showing is not acceptable, nor is leaving a raid early. Urgent issues and unexpected events in real life are understandable. Send the raid leader an in-game email and let them know. It only takes a few seconds and makes a big difference. Unnotified absences when you've signed up will be tolerated once every 60 days. Sign up for another raid and not show, and you'll be promptly moved to Probationary status.
  10. The guild does not support gold purchasing or power leveling services. Any guild member found to be supporting such a service will be swiftly kicked and thrown on the ban list. The vast majority of their gold is stolen gold from hacked accounts, and all you're doing by supporting them is telling them you want them to hack more accounts to buy more gold. Your account, or another guildie's account could be the next account hacked, which doesn't just hurt you, it hurts the entire guild because they often liquidate guild banks for as much as that character can access.
Raiding with Us

All raids are scheduled through the calendar. Spots are determined first by roles, then skill and attendance. With regard to attendance, those who sign up first will be considered first for a spot. Next is those on Standby, followed by those who originally declined, followed last by those who didn't update the calendar at all (or are Invited). In addition, those who have a tendency to leave raids early, show up late, or sign up and no-show will be placed to the bottom of the list at the raid leader's discretion.

Raid members are expected to show up to raids 15 minutes before the scheduled time, as raids are supposed to start at the scheduled time. If a member has not shown up 5 minutes before the scheduled time, the Raid Leader has the right to replace their spot.

Raid Leaders are additionally required to have Deadly Boss Mods, which is an invaluable tool as a Raid Leader in assisting with boss tactics and communicating to the raid what needs to be done and when.

Raid Looting

Momentum uses a home-brewed NRP (Naked Raiding Points) system that's meant to avoid elitism and keep things balanced for casual raiders. All new members will start at zero NRP and zero attendance. All members, including trial members, will be eligible for loot based on this system, and gain/lose NRP as any normal member would.

  1. All loot is a set cost:
    1. 20 NRP for cloth, leather, mail, and plate items.
    2. 40 NRP for weapons, rings, trinkets, necklaces, and cloaks.
    3. 60 NRP for tier tokens.
    4. Off-spec items cost an additional 10 NRP.
    5. Forced-spec changes don't take the +10 NRP penalty.
    6. Patterns are 10 NRP.
    7. Off-spec items no one wants or no one else can use are 5 NRP.
  2. NRP is granted for "current" raids the guild is doing only.
    1. 10 NRP will be given to raid members who show up to raids on time and repaired and prepared. (Those on Standby will get the full amount for this.)
    2. Each boss is worth 5 NRP.
    3. Hard modes and heroic bosses are worth 15 NRP. They also do not count as "new."
    4. 25-mans and 10-man count as the same raid; 25-mans do not award extra NRP.
    5. New bosses are worth +2 NRP per each attempt with progress before downed.
    6. Members on Standby are granted half NRP (rounded up) for each boss; they do however get full bonus points for progression attempts.
    7. 5 NRP is awarded to guildies who lose an item to a non-guildy.
  3. Alts do not get NRP; the only loot they may acquire are items no one else wants.
  4. "Need before Greed" rules apply:
    1. The slot hasn't already been upgraded for that raid tier.
    2. Main spec before off-spec.
    3. Items with Hit are DPS first; no Hit means healers first.
    4. Items with MP5/Spirit go to their respective classes first.
  5. NRP is reset to zero if:
    1. A person switches their "main."
    2. A person switches their primary spec.
    3. A person leaves the guild.
  6. NRP will be taken away for:
    1. -10 NRP for showing up to a raid late (within 30 minutes of the scheduled time).
    2. -20 NRP for signing up to a raid and not showing, or showing up more 30 minutes later than the scheduled time.
    3. -20 NRP for ninjaing loot in another guild's raid.
    4. -10 NRP for mouthing off, starting drama, and poor representation of the guild (spamming of excessive use of expletives in general chat channels).
    5. -10 NRP for dropping (or "disconnecting") during instance runs with other guildies.

Attendance will be kept on a rolling three-month time frame viewable on the guild web site. Standby attendance will be recorded for each boss downed while standby members are online.

When disputes arise (because multiple people have the NRP required to purchase an item), the raid leader will use the "Need before Greed" rules specified above. If a dispute still exists, the raid leader has the right to look up attendance and use that as a deciding factor. If attendance does not help, the raid leader can ask for a random roll.

A player may not upgrade the same slot more than once per raid if another player wants an item in that slot. For example, Elowyn acquires a helm upgrade that he pays NRP for early in a raid. Three weeks later, in that same raid (or even a different raid of the same tier), a tiered-helm token drops that Elowyn wants (and its an upgrade), and another leather wearer (Rogue or feral Druid) want. Elowyn automatically loses the item. If however, the helm Elowyn originally acquired was something no one wanted, Elowyn may still pay NRP for the new helm.

Need - An item that is an upgrade for a player, for their primary raid spec, that is of the armor appropriate for their class with the proper attributes.

Greed - An item that is not a clear upgrade, is of 'lower tier' armor (e.g. Moonkin druid taking cloth), or is not for their primary spec.

Loot will be handled publicly in raid. The current item will be linked in a raid warning, and all raiders will be asked about acquiring the linked item. NRP will be addressed, and the raid leader is to record the purchase of the item on the Guild Web Site.

Alternate Characters (Alts)

Those part of the probationary rank may not invite alts to the guild. All other members may have a single alt in the guild, and officers may have three alts in the guild. We don't want people gearing up their alts over other people's mains, nor we want to be known as an alt guild. Part of being in a guild means assisting others with their progression, while sacrificing your own progression to assist the guild with overall progression. Just like anything else, progression is gradual improvement, not instant gratification.
